A weekend away was conceptualised by Josh Fischl and is funded by JCA’s The Choice Foundation.  Together with Jade Reuveny, they organise six to ten experiences a year where people with a disability can go on a holiday and develop close bonds with a volunteer buddy.

A Weekend Away enables young adults to go away for the weekend with buddies and stay in holiday homes donated by members of the community.  The weekends are not jam-packed with programming but are really an opportunity for people to connect in a relaxed and social environment.

This provides a wonderful opportunity for participants to develop friendships and experience a range of life activities.

The Choice Foundation’s mission is to have a strong, inclusive community where every member can contribute by ensuring that a person with disability has the same opportunity to reach their potential as anybody else. They endeavour to do this by welcoming and supporting innovative ideas and programs in the disability space.
