Can the services be customised to suit my elderly loved one’s preferences and schedule?

Yes, our services are flexible to meet the preferences and schedule of your loved one. When they are allocated a Home Care Package through My Aged Care we will meet to discuss their unique needs and goals. We always welcome family and carers to be a part of this discussion. One of our dedicated Aged Care Caseworkers will then develop a person-centred, holistic plan utilising your loved one’s allocated funding.

How much does home assistance for elderly services cost, and what payment options are available?

When you receive a Home Care Package, you are allocated a budget to pay for the services you need based on your Package Level. This budget includes contributions from both you directly and the government. One of the ways you contribute directly is through the basic daily fee, which is an amount that everyone can be asked to pay (besides full time pensioners).

It is set by the government at a percentage of the single basic age pension, varying from 15.68% to 17.50%, depending on your Home Care Package Level. As of September 2023, the daily fee for a Level 1 Package is $11.22, for a Level 2 Package it is $11.87, for a Level 3 Package it is $12.20 and for a Level 4 Package it is $12.53.

The Australian government contributes a different amount for each Home Care Package Level. For a Level 1 Package, the daily government subsidy is $28.14, for a Level 2 Package, the daily government subsidy is $49.49, for a Level 3 Package the daily government subsidy is $107.70 and for a Level 4 Package, the daily government subsidy is $163.27.

Some people may also be required to pay the income-tested care fee, which is determined through an income assessment through Services Australia. The fee is based on your individual income, including your pension, meaning it is different for everyone. If you are a full-time pensioner, you will not be required to pay. It is up to $35.95 as of 20 September 2023. If you have to pay this fee, there are annual and lifetime limits on how much you can be asked to pay. If your financial situation changes while you are receiving care, your income-tested care fee can change. 

JewishCare accepts payments via direct debit. 

What ongoing support and communication can I expect from the care provider?

Expect regular visits from dedicated healthcare professionals like personal care assistants, nurses, and therapists, tailoring support to your needs and evolving preferences. Open communication is key: expect regular check-ins, provider updates, and opportunities to discuss your satisfaction and plan adjustments. We’ll work with you and your family to ensure continuous, coordinated care and a comfortable, well-supported life.

Are the caregivers trained in dealing with specialised conditions, such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care?

All of our staff at JewishCare are trained in dementia care. With a confirmed dementia diagnosis, we can apply for the dementia supplement that provides additional funds into your package.

How do I know that the caregivers are trustworthy and reliable?

All our caregiving staff are required to go through probity checks including reference checks at the point of their job offer and NSW police checks that must be repeated every 3 years.

Is there a minimum or maximum duration for receiving elderly assistance services?

No, there is no minimum or maximum duration for receiving our home care support services. You can cancel at any time, or receive our services for as long as you need them.
