Key Features of our Personal Care for Seniors Package

Care with dignity

If you or your loved one can no longer manage personal care, our team can in some cases provide domestic assistance. We can assist with a range of daily living tasks including showering and bathing, meal preparation and eating, grooming and personal hygiene, toileting and continence, medication reminders, and assistance with daily errands.

Government-funded or private

Personal care services are available through a My Aged Care approved Home Care Package, or through private care. If you think you may be eligible for a Home Care Package and don’t have one yet, contact us and we can help you apply for one.

Flexible care services

When your care needs change, so can your support. There are four levels of Home Care Packages catering to needs that range from basic to high. We are always here to review your care plan if you need it and help arrange a new assessment with My Aged Care if required.

What services are included in a Personal Care Package?

A Personal Care Package offers tailored support to help you stay independent at home. It covers assistance with essential daily tasks, like personal hygiene, meal preparation and cooking, medication management, housekeeping, etc. The specific services within your package can be customised based on your individual needs, financial situation and assessment.

How much do packages cost? Are there any financial contributions required?

Home Care Packages are funded by the Australian government, but both contributions and individual fees may apply. Your total daily cost is the sum of the government subsidy and any applicable fees. For most seniors, the government contribution significantly reduces the overall cost.

What factors should I consider when choosing a personal care service provider?

Finding the right personal care provider is key to ensuring quality care and peace of mind for you or your family members. To achieve this, carefully vet potential providers by checking their reputation and qualifications, comparing package options and fees, and establishing open communication with staff. What are the rights of a personal care service recipient?

In Australia, the rights of personal care service recipients are protected by a robust framework. Some of your fundamental rights include choice and control, respect and dignity, quality of care, and safety, among others. You can find a full list of your rights, as outlined in The Charter of Aged Care rights, on the My Aged Care website. Don’t hesitate to speak up if your rights are not being respected or if you have any concerns about your care.

How can I access this service?

Accessing personal care services in Australia involves some steps, but it’s designed to be straightforward. 

The first step is to get assessed. You can apply for an assessment online on the My Aged Care website or you can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422

The online application is quick and easy but if you would prefer, My Aged Care’s friendly and knowledgeable staff will talk with you about your needs and circumstances and make the application for you.

If you need any additional support throughout the assessment journey, do not hesitate to reach out to us at JewishCare and talk to our aged care assessment team. 

If your assessment application is successful, you will have your assessment in person, in the comfort of your own home. 

After your assessment, you will find out if you’ve met the requirements for government-funded services and which ones you can access as part of a Home Care Package. 

Once you have your package, we can help develop a care plan for you. When we first meet, our Assessment Officer will ask you some additional questions so they can gather in-depth information about your needs and goals. This information will be passed on to an Aged Care Caseworker who will develop a person-centred, holistic plan for you. We are here to ensure you receive the personalised support within the confines of your home care package budget, with the assurance of our expertise.
